Mother’s Day

Growing up in a family of 9 and now having a family of 5 myself, I can say with full confidence mothers have one of the toughest jobs in the world! I honestly don’t know how they do all they do and still outlive us men. But what makes my wife truly incredible is her love for God. She has such a true, steadfast love for Jesus unlike anyone else I have met and is one of the hardest working people I know. My kids and I are truly so blessed by her every day.

Her relationship with God started a long time ago when she was a young teenager. During this time, she had a dream where a pack of wolves were trying to come in through a manhole in her bedroom floor. In total fear, she began to scream for her dad because he was the only one strong enough to close the hatch in the floor and save her and her family. This dream was so vivid, she wrote a poem about it that shows wisdom that can only come from above. Unfortunate about a decade after she had this dream, her parents divorced leaving them without a covering and the wolves were let in. It breaks her heart and ours to see this, but praise Jesus His blood has set her free from this grip of death. As hard as it was for her, it was in these very tough years that Jesus established Himself as a mighty tower in her, a work that can’t be undone. Even though she is not perfect and has had many tough years battling these wolves, the mother, wife, and woman she is today was due to only the blood of Jesus and Him calling her by name (Isaiah 43:7). This remarkable woman whom I am so privileged to have as my bride and holds such a special place in my heart. She is the mother that endured the hardship by my hand in the toughest of times that God used her sanctify our kids and make them holy (1 Corinthians 7:14). I can’t thank you enough Jesus for the wife you have blessed me with, bless her Lord in all she does!

If you are a mother after Gods own heart, YOU ARE IRREPLACEABLE! There is a real reason why God gives the instruction in Proverbs 1:8 and 6:20 to not forsake your mothers’ teachings. God has given mothers an understanding to teach our kids and others in ways that they only can. And I still don’t know how it is possible to make 3 meals a day, homeschool, constant questions, and still find time to minister to me and other kids in the community every week. From what I see, this is common across the board for all Godly mothers out there, even if the schedule looks different. And like my old offensive lineman coach told me, you do all the work and get none of the credit. As this is not true in every family, it is far more common than we might think. Let us not forget just how much mothers do for their family, because without them there would be far more ciaos. If this describes you or hits home in any way, please know just how rare and necessary you are to your family, and that your value is far beyond rubies even if it is not noticed (Proverbs 31:10),

This is my wife’s, Rhandie Mohr’s poem she wrote about the wolf when she was a young teenager, I hope you are blessed by it like I am!

Miscommunication guiding the hand of destruction; together his name is strife.

A wolf-like creature, with jet black fur and ivory fangs to leave his mark.

His glaring eyes pierce through that darkness, seeking the weary to devour.

He will find them everywhere and demolish their lives.

Sly and malicious, this beast will come, through the slightest arguments, if you let him.

Knocking at the door of uncertainty, you’ll blindly invite him in. In the midst of fears and frustrations, he dines and thereafter, craves to stir up disorder.

His words are sharp, painful and intense.

A pupil of one who was cast from the heavens, he who prowls around like a lion; only to steal, kill and destroy.

But strife, his duty is this, provoking contentions. To stir up trouble wherever he may, and bathe in its furies and sufferings.

Relationships, friendships, marriages and families, are the golden buffets he preys on.

Then suddenly, they’re torn and wonder where it all began.

Strife.

There are many who can defeat him, but only a few are aware; that this world is pacing the foundation of their lives, waiting for a moment to seize.

Fear no more, he doesn’t have to win.

Be strong and courageous, fight for those you love. Stand firm on the Solid Rock, I Am; Oh Lord, save us from this beast! Open our eyes that we may see him, and open our ears that we may hear, only Your voice, not his quarrelsome tone.

Teach us to draw near.

My wife and our 3 children
